Community Groups

The Big Picture:

Community Groups are a door to the life of Highland Park Fellowship. We believe that we are made for community and need one another through the struggles of this world but also to be able to celebrate as God uses us in sharing and showing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through small groups individuals are able to explore God’s word in the context of genuine care for one another as they are equipped to be carriers of this good news into the world. Each group expects to experience Jesus Christ in its midst, enabling participants to be transformed through mutual ministry and to experience life in the family of God.

Composed of six to nine adults, groups meet in homes throughout the Chattanooga area. All groups are led by lay-leaders from the congregation who receive continued oversight and support from our pastor and the Elder and Care Team. Groups meet weekly for worship, Bible study, fellowship and prayer.

In addition to weekly fellowship around the Scriptures, many groups also participate in regular service projects or social events as we seek to be salt and light for our communities.

Our hope is that everyone who attends our church will be involved in a Community group.

When do groups begin?

Community Groups will begin the week of September 7th

How do I join a group?

In searching for a Community Group, we strongly recommend choosing a group that is near your home if possible. The phone number of the group’s contact person is printed in the list of groups. Once you call, you can get directions to the house where your group meets and any other information you will need regarding that group, including availability of childcare and whether this group shares a meal each week. We suggest that you might want to try a few groups before you settle into one for the year. The leaders and hosts of the group will understand that the important thing is finding a Community Group that is best for you.

Please visit our ChurchCenter site for all of the details and to join a group. For each group you will be able to view details, such as: general format, location where your group meets, time and day of the week, availability of childcare, and whether this group shares a meal each week or not. You can contact the group leaders with any questions about their specific group. Please note, only after you join a group will you be able to see the exact location for where the group meets. Before joining a group it will only show an approximate location.

What will groups study?

Each group is encouraged to discuss the sermon passage from the previous Sunday. Questions will be provided by the preacher to each group. We believe this unifies our church by giving an opportunity to sink more deeply into learning one main thing each week.
