HPF Leadership Teams
What is the Session?
• The Session is composed of men who are nominated, trained, and ordained as elders, and are called by God to love, serve, and care for His flock at HPC. They also oversee the Mercy Team, Hospitality, Shepherding Team and the staff will be directly overseen by the senior pastor. All leadership teams will have a session liaison.
• The Session sets the direction for the church and oversees the budget.
• 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:5-9, and the PCA Book of Church Order 8.3 offer helpful summaries of the character qualifications.
What is the Mercy Team?
The Mercy Team is made up of men and women who are selected by the session, trained, and called by God to sympathize and serve after the example of our Lord Jesus, especially helping others in times of need.
1 Timothy 3, Acts 6, and the PCA Book Of Church Order 9.3 offer helpful summaries of the character qualifications of a deacon, and as their service is similar, these are the same for Mercy Team members.
The Mercy Team oversees all distributions of resources to those in need both within and outside of our congregation.
What is the Women’s Shepherding Team?
The Women’s Shepherding Team is made up of the women shepherds who are gifted in shepherding the spiritual needs of our congregation through presence, prayer, and counsel. They will often partner with the Mercy Team, especially when issues touching finances, shelter, transportation, or employment are involved.
Members are recommended by the congregation, trained, and appointed by the Session.
They should be comfortable praying with people in need and be familiar with the Bible and comfortable utilizing Scripture in their care for others.
These women will advise the session at their regular meetings, as Scripture has instructed and our denomination commended (I Tim 5.10, Rom 16.1-2, Phil 4.2-3, Titus 2.3-4, I Cor 11.5). They are not ordained and will not have a vote on the session (I Tim 3.1-7)
What is the Hospitality Team?
The Hospitality Team is made up of men and women who are gifted in creating a welcoming place for all.
They facilitate all church-wide events, planning for food, childcare, and other considerations at such gatherings.
Members are trained and appointed by the Session.
